It feels counterintuitive, but limiting your audience is often the fastest way to reach your goals (applies to selling, job hunting and even dating!) When building product, it isn't instinctive & even feels scary to narrow an audience “Oh no, I’m excluding so many viable users!" "But we need to capture the TAM" "We might miss out on potential opportunities" Counterintuitively, narrowing focus on a more specific target audience will help you hit your goals faster because you focus on quality (being GREAT for a small group) over quantity (being just OK for too many). This applies to many other things: - Dating - You deserve to be picky! - Sales - Focus precious time on qualified leads, instead of convincing wrong matches. - Marketing campaigns - Matched keywords > broad match. Cheaper, too - Hiring - Big fan of actually well-crafted, specific job descriptions vs. copy pasta ones - Content creation - Find your 1000 true fans - Job searching - Narrow down search to decrease overwhelm & craft a resume that increases your chances of getting hired Ultimately, niching down saves time and resources so you can focus on finding ✨the one✨ faster.
