How to Set Up Meta Muse in 30 Minutes

A new AI agent is useless until you set it up. Meta Muse is Meta's personal AI agent for everyday tasks and projects, and the 30-minute setup is: import memory, connect the Meta apps, WhatsApp, a daily feed, and your goals.

I use it because it already talks to Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Facebook. I've been checking Facebook Marketplace for things I want to buy, and reading my Instagram insights, without dumping screenshots into another chat. Same idea as a Claude setup: do the boring config once so every later session actually knows you.

How do you set up Meta Muse in 30 minutes?

Name the agent first. Then do these five in order, beginner to slightly unhinged. Muse is available in the Muse app, at muse.ai, and on WhatsApp in the US. If you want the "it keeps working after you close the app" version of this, that split is chat-based vs agentic AI.

1. Import your memory

After you name the agent, import memory. Meta lets you send a prompt on Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, or Threads so it can transfer what those apps already know about you into Meta Muse. Skip this and you spend the first week re-explaining yourself. Do it once and Marketplace hunts or Instagram reads start from context you already have.

2. Connect the Meta apps

Connect the apps Muse is allowed to use, and start with anything in the Meta ecosystem: Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads. You choose the access. I connected those first because that is the whole point of this agent. Marketplace and Instagram insights only work if those apps are actually connected.

3. Text it from WhatsApp

Connect Muse to WhatsApp so you can text the agent the way you text a person. I have been messaging mine from WhatsApp instead of opening a separate app every time. That is the version I actually use during the day.

4. Make a daily feed

Build a feed of what you want to see every day. Tap the feed icon on the bottom, then the top right, and write a prompt for what should show up. Treat it like a daily briefing that lives inside Muse: Marketplace matches, unread threads, Instagram numbers, whatever you would otherwise open five apps to check.

5. Add your goals

Tap the goals icon on the bottom and talk to Muse about what you are actually trying to do. It saves the goal so later chats have that context. A goal is not a to-do list. It is the reason you opened the app, so a Marketplace hunt or an Instagram analysis does not start from zero.

Key insight: Memory, apps, WhatsApp, feed, and goals are the setup. Stripe and saved logins are optional, and they are the part I would not rush.

The unhinged extras

These are optional. Try them only if you accept the risk.

6. Link payments with Stripe

Meta Muse can connect payment details through Stripe so it can check out on your behalf. Muse is supposed to ask before it buys anything. I would still treat this as a live credit card, not a toy. Start with a tiny test purchase you can reverse, not rent or a marketplace bid.

7. Put logins in its vault

Muse has its own vault for certain logins and passwords so it can sign into other apps and do work for you. That is the "own computer" part. It is also the part that can go wrong. Give it only the accounts you would hand a contractor, keep approval on, and do not start with your bank.
